I am trying to program a 'one touch' speed dial button to dial into
the VM system and go directly to the new messages....(automatically
dialing the 777& extension number, password....etc.)

Is this possible?

Thanks

Try setting up a system speed dial bin and assiging that to a button. Like
"icm777 pause ext# pause pass#" Adjust pauses for system timing. This is
just theory, have not actually done it.

I know how to in 'theory'....but I am being told that with the Avaya
system....it's not possible.

ANYONE....Is this true?

In a word, NO

It's for a reason. You wouldn't want someone to walk into your office
in yout absence and get your personal voice mail messages, would you?

For someone that insists on this, loop a spare extension to a spare
line. Remove all line assignments from the extension, and assign the
line to your phone, being sure to reprogram the Auto Line Select to
NOT grab that line for outbound calls. Then program a speed dial
button as 777-Pause(Hold button)-((extension
number)-#-(password)-#-2-0. When you want to check messages, press the
"line" that takes you to the extension's intercom dial tone, then
press the speed dial button that calls voice mail, pauses for it to
answer, dials your extension number and # then your password and #,
then 2 for new messages and 0 to play the content of the 1st new
message.

Tommy,

Thanks for your response....we have a VERY small office....no issues
with sharing VM messages.

I DO understand the "program a speed dial...." in your
response....but...

FYI....We have an ACS 6.0 processor 3x8 system.....and three incoming
phone lines.

I don't 'get' the:

"loop a spare extension to a spare line. Remove all line assignments
from the extension, and assign the
line to your phone, being sure to reprogram the Auto Line Select to
NOT grab that line for outbound calls."

Can you step by step me through the process?

Thanks

You can't do it with what you've got, unless you add an expansion.

Be that as it may, here's what you would do, if you had the line a
station ports available.

You would take an extension that isn't being used, let's say Extension
20. In programming, you remove all line appearances form Ext. 20, so
when you go off hook you only get Intercom Dial Tone, never an outside
line. Then you take a line cord, and at the control unit, you plug one
end into Ext. 20 and the other end into an unused Line port. Lets say,
Line 5.

Now on your phones, you can put any line on any specific button, as
long as it's a button with a light next to it. So, you assign Line 1
thorugh 2, your "real" lines down at the bottom as usual, but then
assign Line 5 up at the top. Then you program your extension to
automatically pick Line 1, Line 2, and Line 3 for outgoing calls, but
not Line 5.

Next you program a button with the speed dial sequence of
777-pause-your extension number and #, your password and #, 2 to get
messages and 0 to play the 1st message. You would probably want to put
this button right next to the Line 5 button.

Finally, to check your voice mail, first touch the Line 5 button,
which draws Intercom dial tone from Ext. 20, then touch the speed dial
button which dials the sequence to call voice mail and log into your
mailbox.

For regular outgoing calls, lifting your handset will give you your
regular lines, but never Line 5, which can't make outgoing calls at
all.

Hope that helps!
